Welcome to Louth Lincs 1838

This is a website designed for people interested in the local history of Louth, Lincolnshire.

It makes freely available for viewing online or for downloading databases including the contents of three rating lists, which list the occupiers of land and buildings in the town, together with the owners and adjusted rental values. The best of the rating lists was produced in 1838 and this website looks mainly at the period 1823 – 1851.

Other available databases relate to voting, or entitlement to vote; the largest identifies the men and women that voted in a town poll in 1834.

Other sections of this website explain what information can be obtained from the databases and have notes on other aspects of Louth history about this time. Go to Guide for a brief introduction to these subjects.

If your main interest is in family history and you think that one of your ancestors lived in Louth in the period 1823 to 1851 you may find the Family History note helpful.

Town plans dated 1808 and 1834 are also available.
